About

Formed in 1992, South Lake Dolphins Swimming Club is a year-round swimming club located in the City of Cockburn. Our coaches and volunteers have a proven track record and are committed to helping all of our athletes accomplish the goals they set for themselves.

Our swimmers compete in local events appropriate for their age and ability level, as well as regional and national championship events.

Stefano Di Bernardo

Head Coach

Stefano joined SLD in 2021 and has been our Head Coach since 2023 and is also directly responsible for the development of our high-performance squads. He is an accredited coach with 10+ years’ experience in the UK and in Western Australia and a qualified
fitness instructor.
Stefano was a competitive swimmer in Italy and as a Coach he has helped many swimmers to achieve their goals in competing at both State and National levels in three different countries.
Stefano’s passion for swimming and his desire to help all his swimmers achieve their goals is evident from the very first time you meet him.
Stefano’s motto and advice to all his swimmers is: “Amateurs practice until they can get it right, professionals’ practice until they can’t get it wrong.   You decide who you want to be!”

    Kareena Preston 

    Development Coach

    Kareena has been a swim coach for 35 years, coaching swimmers of all ages from beginner squad children to adults, including multi-class swimmers of all classifications.  She has coached on many Australian swim teams and produced swimmers to State, National and International levels.  Her swimmers have achieved multiple world records at World and Paralympic level. Kareena has been mentored by some of Australia’s incredible Olympic coaches, spent many weeks learning at the AIS in Canberra, travelled with teams and coached at the WA Institute of Sport.
    Kareena holds an Advanced Coach Accreditation through SCTA (Swim Coaches Teachers Australia) and an Open Water Coaching Accreditation.  She is a member of Fremantle Masters Swimming Club and holds her Masters Coaching Accreditation.  She loves both ocean and pool swimming and is a fierce competitor in both!

      Amber Kinnane

      Junior Coach

      With SLD since 2024, Amber is a qualified Swimming Coach and Fitness instructor with a wealth of knowledge and experience not only in swimming, but also other sports such as Netball and Football. She is also an awarded semi-professional Football player and former Surf Lifesaving / open water swimmer.
      Amber coaches some of our youngest swimmers, helping them develop their skills and love for the sport. She also works with our non-competitive / fitness / reconditioning swimmers,
      providing tailored sessions designed to support them in achieving their goals.

        Jordan Davies

        Development Coach

        Jordan has been coaching at SLD since 2023. He is a qualified coach and was a highly accomplished swimmer himself, allowing him insight into what the athletes at SLD go through in the journeys to achieving their goals. Jordan is responsible for Coaching most of our Junior competitive swimmers and has been fundamental to building up skills and performance, whilst creating a welcoming environment that allows swimmers to progress in a fun, safe and caring way.
